“Israeli soldiers didn’t rape Palestinians? They have since 1948, and this doesn’t make it into the textbooks,” the teacher wrote in a messaging group. A history teacher who worked at a school in the central city of Petah Tikva was arrested on Friday, november 10, for allegedly justifying the barbaric acts carried out by Hamas terrorists in Israel.
"Palestinian women weren't raped by Israeli soldiers? The instructor remarked in a group chat with other educators, "They have since 1948, and this doesn't make it into the textbooks." His remarks seemed to support the allegations made in certain stories that Hamas sexually assaulted women.
He also said, ostensibly in support of Hamas, that "an occupied nation is allowed to do anything that is needed in order to succeed in its struggle" in another case. Following a complaint, the Petah Tikva municipality and the education Ministry withdrew the instructor from the school.
The inquiry is still ongoing. The Times Of israel reports that his imprisonment was prolonged at least until Monday, november 13.
According to reports, the instructor had previously praised security personnel and offered support for terrorism. He extolled a terrorist even. He is said to have stated earlier this year that the perpetrator of a car-ramming incident "was not a terrorist." He has also been charged with disseminating internet content that incited assaults on law enforcement and military personnel.
The instructor allegedly called Israeli air Force pilots "child murderers" and advised high school pupils against enlisting in the military at one point. He wrote of the pilots, saying, "They know well what the results will be, and still they chose to obey."
According to the Israeli outlet Mako, police issued a statement saying, "We take seriously this case in which a history teacher who teaches children in a school in israel, distorts history, calls IDF pilots murderers, justifies the actions of the enemy and aids the enemy in times of war, among other things, by fabrications that include blaming IDF soldiers."
