Gaza evacuation now urgent says Israel amid war with Hamas

On Sunday, the Israeli military declared that it was now vital for Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip to leave their area and go south, away from the main area of the operation against Hamas. "We have been urging those living in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip to temporarily evacuate southward for the past two weeks. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the main spokesperson, stated that the move south was made for their personal protection.

In a live briefing, he stated, "We are emphasizing that this is an urgent call." Hagari continued, "There are now 239 confirmed hostages in Gaza as a result of Hamas' cross-data-border assault in southern israel on october 7."

Three weeks into the conflict between israel and the Islamist Hamas rulers of Gaza, hundreds of Palestinians stormed into assistance warehouses in the region to steal basic hygiene goods and bread, according to a UN agency today. This was a sign of the breakdown of public order and mounting desperation. According to Thomas White, Gaza head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, the warehouse break-ins were "a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege on Gaza." He declared, "People are scared, frustrated, and desperate."
