On Wednesday, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that all members of the terrorist Palestinian organisation were "a dead man" and promised to continue the group's struggle. Following Hamas' unexpected strike on Saturday, Netanyahu stated in his statement that israel intended to "destroy" the organisation for the first time.

In a brief broadcast address, he declared, "Hamas is Daesh (Islamic State group), and we will crush them and destroy them as the world has destroyed Daesh." This was his first joint declaration with his war cabinet. Yoav Gallant, the minister of defence, went on, "We will wipe Hamas off the data-face of the earth." Prior to the current crisis, Netanyahu temporarily resolved his political divisions and formed an emergency administration that included former defence minister Benny Gantz, a moderate.

Following the inaugural meeting of his nation's emergency government, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that each and every member of Hamas was "a dead man". Opposition leader Benny Gantz echoed him in declaring that this was "a time for war". However, US President Joe Biden claimed to have discussed the need for israel to "operate by the rules of war" with Mr. Netanyahu.

In israel, there are now 1,200 dead. Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have claimed the lives of over 1,100 civilians. While acknowledging the Israeli people's dissatisfaction and rage, Mr. Biden encouraged israel to uphold the norms of the Geneva accords. He also issued a "be careful" warning to Iran, which has applauded the Hamas strike.
