4 Dalits hung upside down, beaten on theft suspicion

At Haregaon village in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, four Dalit men were hung upside down from a tree and beaten with sticks on suspicion of stealing a goat and a few birds, according to the police. According to the police, five other people are still at large after a video of the event went viral on social media and led to the arrest of one individual in connection with the assault.

Yuvraj Galande, Manoj Bodake, Pappu Parkhe, deepak Gaikwad, Durgesh Vaidya, and Raju Borag have been named as the defendants. According to the authorities, one of the suspects is said to have taken the attack footage that afterwards circulated on social media. According to reports, a gang of six people abducted the victims, who were all in their 20s, from their residences on august 25. Following the attack, the wounded guys were taken right away to a hospital in the area for treatment.

Shubham Magade, one of the victims, reported the incident to the local police. According to the police, the authorities opened an investigation under sections 307 (attempt to kill) and 364 (kidnapping) of the indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as other pertinent clauses of the scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities Act).
