India makes history-4th Nation to set foot!!!
India is now the fourth country in history to land a spacecraft on the moon with its Chandrayaan-3 module. The mission may solidify India's position as the world's preeminent space power. Only the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union have hit the lunar surdata-face with soft landings thus far. The landing site of Chandrayaan-3 is also the closest to the south pole of the moon than any previous spacecraft has ever been. Since it is thought that the south pole region contains water ice deposits, spacefaring nations view it as a region of critical scientific and strategic interest.Either as rocket fuel or even as drinking water for upcoming crewed missions, the water that has frozen in dark craters could be utilised. While attending the BRICS Summit in South Africa, indian Prime minister Narendra Modi observed the landing virtually and made remarks that were streamed live. "I would like to address all people of the world on this momentous occasion," he uttered. "This achievement benefits all of humanity and will support future moon missions conducted by other nations."Shortly after the unsuccessful attempt by another country to do the same, india is attempting to land its spacecraft close to the lunar south pole. Russia's first attempt at a lunar landing in 47 years was dashed on august 19, when its Luna 25 spacecraft's engines malfunctioned and it crashed into the moon. Chandrayaan-3's cameras took pictures as it got closer to the moon; one of those shots was from august 20 and was released on tuesday by India's space agency. The picture shows the dusty, grey surdata-face of the moon up close.
