Meg 2: The Trench Review - Perfect Popcorn Entertainment

SIBY JEYYA
This time, the gung-ho eco-warrior Jonas Taylor (Statham) data-faces challenges beyond a gigantic prehistoric megalodon when his diving crew becomes trapped at the bottom of an underwater trench where a variety of prehistoric beasts are waiting to attack.
In the original "Meg," the biggest shark to have ever lived emerges from a deep stretch of the Mariana Trench and wrecks havoc on a busy beach, forcing rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) and scientists at an undersea research station to battle for their lives. The danger increases in the sequel, which was directed by Ben Wheatley ("Kill List"), as Jonas and company have to contend with not one, not two, but three megalodons that hunt in a pack, in addition to other enormous marine animals from the trench.

This isn't it if you're looking for serious, in-depth plotlines and performances worthy of an Oscar, so you should definitely stay away. In addition, if you desire that, why in the world would you go watch this movie in the first place?
This film has a tonne of hilarious moments and is just silly joy. The comic part of it genuinely surprised me. Like most films of this type, I anticipated a few amusing bits here and there, but this is consistently hilarious. Grandiose action scenes are prevalent. A character you just outright despise because of his unusual bad behaviour and stunning CGI. The movie itself is quite nicely filmed, and there were times when I couldn't tell if the special effects were real or computer generated. They did a good job of blending everything. For the type of movie this is, I felt the acting was excellent. It's roughly what I anticipated.
There were a few things here and there that, like everything, could have been done better. But none of those issues was significant enough to prevent me from enjoying it. Personally, I thought it could have used a little more gore. With the sort of tale this is, I believe that may have raised this a notch. However, rather than being a real obstacle, that is more of a preference.
This is what I expected from a movie in the Summer blockbuster vein. Going to the theatre is enjoyable. It's the kind of movie you want to watch with excellent sound on a large screen. What I would call the ideal popcorn movie.
