8,600 kms in nearly 370 days: Indian man's epic Haj journey from Kerala to Mecca

A Keralan man walked from his state to the holy city of Mecca in just over a year (about 370 days). Shihab Chottur's 8,640 kilometre trek brought him through Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, kuwait, and saudi arabia before arriving there. Just to be clear, he made the entire trip on foot. On june 2, 2022, Shihab Chottur, a native of Valancherry in Kerala's Malappuram district, began his arduous journey to saudi arabia to complete the Haj. 

This month, he made it to Mecca. Shihab travelled on foot from kuwait to saudi arabia in the second week of May, passing via India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and Kuwait. Shihab travelled to Medina, a significant Islamic pilgrimage site, after entering Saudi Arabia. Before departing for Mecca, he stayed in Medina for 21 days.

Shihab took nine days to travel the 440 miles between Medina and Mecca. After his mother, Zainaba, arrives in the city from kerala, Shihab will conduct the Haj. The YouTube user from kerala has been constantly updating his followers on his journey from the southern indian state to the holiest city of Mecca. Shihab began his Haj pilgrimage in june of last year and travelled through a number of states before arriving at the wagah data-border, where he intended to enter Pakistan.
