TN students are unable to participate in national sports competitions - Udhayanidhi Explains

Minister Udayanidhi stalin said that an inquiry has been taken regarding the inability of tamil Nadu students to participate in national sports competitions. 32 national sports competitions including cricket, tennis, swimming, carrom, chess, hockey, kabaddi are conducted annually for students studying in government and private schools across the country.
Among these, the respective state governments select those who qualify in the state-level competitions and send them to the national competitions. students participating and winning these competitions are given various benefits including priority in higher education admissions.
Accordingly, it is said that a letter has been sent to the tamil Nadu school education Department on behalf of the National sports Federation to register the details of those who have qualified to participate in this year's national competitions online by May 29.
However, it was alleged that the school education department did not take any action to select and send students from tamil Nadu, and as a result, more than 250 students could not participate in the national sports competitions and the reason for this was the negligence of the education department officials.

Speaking then, he said, "In this regard, serious investigation has been conducted and action has been taken. This has happened due to lack of proper information exchange. Action will be taken to prevent this from happening in the future." He said.
