The Naatu Naatu song composer, MM keeravani, gave the following speech after receiving the honor. I'm grateful, Academy! I listened to carpenters as a child, and now here I am at the Oscars. keeravani sang, "There was only one wish on my mind, So was Rajamouli's and my family's!" in a few straight lines. The pride of every indian depends on rrr winning! and must make me feel like the world's best!

Keeravani wowed the crowd by singing a large portion of his acceptance speech to a Carpenters classic. There was only one thing on his mind: "'RRR' needs to win, pride of every indian, and must put me on top of the world," he sang, before saying, "I grew up listening to the Carpenters and now here I am with the Oscars."
