Taj Mahal gets notice to pay tax for the first time..!?
India's largest tourist site, the taj mahal, has been notified to pay property tax and water tax, which has caused a stir among the people of India. Property tax and water tax have not been paid or demanded the monuments so far. In this situation, a notice has been sent to the taj mahal to pay property tax and water tax. For the first time in its history, the agra Municipal Corporation of Uttar Pradesh has issued a notice to the central government-run Archaeological survey of india (ASI) to pay Rs 1.9 crore as water tax and Rs 1.5 lakh as property tax to the taj mahal, a protected monument. A notice has been sent to the taj mahal, which is also a monument of lovers, to pay property tax and water tax for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23.
The Archaeological survey of india has asked the agra Municipal Corporation to pay the dues within 15 days. It has also warned that action will be taken against the property if the tax is not paid within this specified time. Archaeological survey of india Superintendent Archaeologist raj Kumar patel told reporters about the agra Municipal Corporation's notice that no property tax will be levied on national monuments. They do not have to pay tax on the water as it has no commercial use. The water is used only to maintain the greenery within the premises around the Taj Mahal. raj Kumar patel also said that the water tax and the property tax for the taj mahal have been collected for the first time, which may have been sent by mistake.
Meanwhile, agra Municipal Commissioner Nikhil D Funde said he was not aware of any measures or notices related to the taj mahal tax. Based on the survey conducted by the state-wide Geographical Information System (GIS) the taxes are calculated and new notices are issued. In this notices are issued to all parties based on the outstanding amount for premises including government buildings, and religious places of worship. agra Municipal Commissioner Nikhil de has explained that action will be taken based on their response through a notice sent to the Archaeological survey of India.
At present taxes are calculated based on the survey conducted by the Geographical Information System (GIS) in the state of Uttar Pradesh and tax notices are sent to private bodies. It may even be a disorder caused by this. The taj mahal was declared a protected monument of india in 1920. And even during the british rule, no house or water tax was levied on the monument, say officials of the Archaeological Department of India.
