Bank employees strike on november 19..!? service affected..?!
Banking services will be disrupted across the country on november 19 as members of the All india bank Employees Association (AIBEA) are on strike. The bank management is protesting against the victimization of bankers for working in the union. AIBEA General Secretary Venkatachalam said that not only attacks on bank employees have been increasing in recent times. All these attacks have a common cause, he said.
The members of the All india bank Employees' Union have decided to go on strike on november 19 to protest against the bank employees' union activities against the bank management and in favor of the bank employees. We see a pattern in attacks on bank employees. Venkatachalam told the members of AIBEA that we as a whole should come together and resist, retaliate and defeat the attacks against bank employees. He said AIBEA union leaders have been sacked/removed from service by Sonali bank, MUFG bank, Federal bank, and Standard Chartered Bank. Venkatachalam said state-owned banks like bank of maharashtra deny trade union rights and Canara bank, bank of india, bank of Baroda and IDBI banks outsource many banking functions.
Venkatachalam dubs Central bank of india management 'jungle raj' as indiscriminate transfer of employees. He further said that more than 3,300 clerks have been transferred from one office to another in violation of bilateral settlement and bank-wide settlement.
