Ram Setu Movie Review - ANOTHER CRAP, JUST SKIP IT
Even in fiction, there are some topics that should never be broached, and ram Setu, starring akshay kumar, is a prime example. Not because it's a delicate subject, but more because the folklore and history don't call for such an odd presentation. Despite abhishek Sharma's best efforts to display this shoddy narrative, he has glaringly missed out on the visual effects, characters, and even the setting.
The opening scene of the film is set in afghanistan in 2007 and features akshay kumar in the lead character of archaeologist aryan Kulshrestha, who is on an expedition and makes two discoveries in the space of 15 minutes. One displays the "reclining Buddha" from the trailer, and the other is a treasure chest from the present-day Pakistan. These sequences, however, are unrelated to ram Setu or even the rest of the narrative. The first thirty minutes or so are basically for establishing the global status of the main character. However, for abhishek Sharma, the persona and the story sink beneath the fabled Pamban waters. This one does not live up to the actor's high standards or those of his khiladi followers.
Jacqueline Fernandez, who is half Sri Lankan, could have truly played a character in the movie who is based there. However, Sandra Rebello, the role she plays, is from goa and is in sri lanka on business! It's hardly a praise that her part in the film is directly comparable to alia Bhatt's in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva.
Another component of the movie that is as cringe-inducing as the plot or story is the VFX! The ram Setu itself is not inviting, nor are the water, corals, dive boats, or even the sea itself. For those who enjoy cringe-worthy content, the action scenes in the film are also a gold mine! Nushrratt Bharuccha is as good as not being in the movie when it comes to the rest of the cast. Her character also doesn't have a significant or supporting role! She is simply present, that's all. And the same is true for the other cast members. Naseer, who portrays the villain in the movie, receives far less screen time than Pravesh Rana, who plays his sidekick and confidant. satyadev Kancharana, though, adds some colour and humour to the otherwise lifeless film.
