The director General of Russia's Rosoboronexport has said that production of Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles will get started in india from the end of this year.In the year 2019, india and russia signed an inter-governmental agreement to set up Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited, a joint venture to manufacture AK-203 assault rifles. Co-founder of Russian company Indo-Russian Rifles Pvt Ltd.The AK203 is an improved version of the Kalashnikov assault rifle family. The AK-47 was the first rifle in this series. Alexander Mikheev, director General of Rosoboronexport, said, "The Korwa Ordnance Factory is ready to start manufacturing Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles by the end of 2022. Our plans include 100% localization of production of the famous Russian assault rifles in India."The project was announced by prime minister Narendra Modi and the President of Russia. Its purpose is to produce lakhs of rifles in India. These rifles will be made for the indian security forces. Russian company Rosoboronexport is going to participate in the Defense Expo starting in gujarat on 18 October. It is understood that at this expo, the company will give more information about its plan in India.
