Google, facing the legal process in india, has suffered another setback. Archna Gulati, india Public Policy Head of American tech giant google, has resigned from her post. Reuters has made this claim citing two sources associated with Google. archana Gulati joined this post just five months back. However, the reason for her resignation has not been clarified by the sources. Gulati was earlier associated with niti aayog, the federal think tank of prime minister Narendra Modi.

Gulati declined to comment on the news of his resignation, while a spokesperson for Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. declined to comment.

Trouble is increasing for Google

Gulati's resignation is considered a major setback for google, which is awaiting the verdict of two antitrust cases against him in India. india is one of the most important growth markets for google, but it has data-faced several antitrust cases in india as well as strict regulations related to the tech sector in recent times. The Competition Commission of india (CCI) has started an investigation into the way google operates in the smart tv market. Along with this, CCI is also investigating Google's Android operating system as well as in-app payment system. people associated with these investigations say that the CCI may soon give its decision in at least two antitrust cases.

Gulati's job was to handle regulatory problems

At google, archana Gulati was leading a team of public policy executives that handled the company's regulatory issues in India. She had been an employee of the government of india for a long time. archana was posted as Joint Secretary (Digital Communications) in prime minister Modi's federal think tank niti aayog till march 2021.

Google had given jobs to many government officials after facing scrutiny under the Competition Act along with strict data and privacy rules during the Modi government. Gulati is also one of them.
