After much anticipation and hesitation, telangana congress mla for the Munuode assembly Constituency Komatireddy Rajagopal reddy made the decision to resign from both his assembly and primary party memberships on Tuesday, clearing the path for a by-election in Munugode. At his home, reddy informed the media that he will shortly meet with state assembly speaker pocharam srinivas reddy and present his letter of resignation.
The Congress's representation in the 119-member house will decrease to five as a result of Reddy's resignation. A total of 19 seats in the 2018 assembly were won by the congress party. Only six seats remained after 12 of them joined the trs and the party lost another seat in the Huzurnagar by-election, which was called as a result of the election of a sitting mla to the Lok Sabha. Despite delaying his declaration, reddy left enough signals that he will eventually join the bjp and run in the by-election under its banner.
"I'm fighting the telangana rashtra samithi administration. And the TRS's rule in telangana can only be overthrown by the BJP. Therefore, it is necessary to support the BJP. I have no doubt that the narendra modi administration will win re-election to the presidency for a third term in a row," he stated. He admitted to the questioner that he had not yet made up his mind to join the BJP. He was adamant that a byelection was the only way to guarantee progress in his district. Despite reports that the congress had decided to act against him, reddy vowed not to criticise it.
