Down south, things are different. In kerala, while 34% of respondents were very satisfied with Modis' performance, more than 30% were dissatisfied. It was much worse in tamil Nadu, where only 17% of respondents were extremely satisfied with Modi's job as Prime minister, while more over 40% were dissatisfied. As the 2024 lok sabha elections approach, both Modi and the bjp must figure out how to appeal to southern voters.

The most popular chief ministers were Assam's Himanta Biswa Sarma and Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan, who were followed by tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin. The respondents were asked to rank the Chief Ministers of their respective states' performance during the poll. In Assam, more than 43% of respondents stated they were extremely satisfied with Himanta Biswa Sarma's performance, while more than 41% said the same in kerala and tamil Nadu.

Himanta Biswa Sarma's high rating stands out since he is the chief minister of a severely split state where Muslims, who make up more than one-third of the electorate, are hostile to the BJP. In contrast, West bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee received 39% in the "very much satisfied" category, despite the fact that a nearly equal percentage of minorities support her party.
