People who come from Sri Lanka should be announced as Refugees

Ramadass, the founder of PMK, has urged that persons from sri lanka affected by the economic crisis be labelled refugees. In a statement made today, he claimed that the number of tamil people seeking sanctuary in tamil Nadu is increasing day by day as a result of Sri Lanka's catastrophic economic crisis. At the same time, the tamil Nadu government is unable to legally supply them with food and financial support since they have not been recognised refugees by the central government.

Due to its erroneous actions, the Sri Lankan government has an irrevocable debt burden. Despite India's multiple loans of food and fuel to sri lanka, the situation there has not improved. The lives of the poor and middle classes in sri lanka have become unaffordable as prices have risen. As a result, Sri Lankan Tamils have been regularly seeking sanctuary in tamil Nadu after abandoning or selling their property.

This morning, fifteen Sri Lankan Tamils arrived in Dhanushkodi. In the last two weeks, the number of asylum applicants in tamil Nadu, which includes them, has climbed to 75. In the last four days alone, 33 people have arrived. Despite receiving humanitarian aid, including food, they are handled in a manner similar to that of inmates. The families of Eelam tamil refugees in tamil Nadu are receiving a variety of services, including food and a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,500. Asylum seekers must now be given with them; Bamaka believes that asylum seekers should be treated with dignity.
