If any firm that manufactures electric vehicles is proven to be careless in its operations, Union minister Nitin Gadkari has warned that it will be penalised significantly and required to recall all defective products. Electric car demand is increasing as a result of rising global pollution and rising gasoline and diesel prices. In order to increase the number of electric vehicles in India, various incentives have been introduced. Despite the rise in electric car use, the number of accidents has risen as well.
A number of incidents have occurred, with electric motorcycles catching fire in particular. The government has ordered the companies involved to take preventative measures, such as recalling all defective electric vehicles and forming an expert committee to investigate the occurrences and develop quality norms.
Nithin Kadkari said, "Several electric two-wheeler accidents have been reported in the last two months, according to reports. Unfortunately, some people have died and many more have been hurt as a result of these accidents. The firms involved should make plans ahead of time to recall any problematic automobiles immediately. A committee should be formed to investigate such instances and make recommendations for how to handle the problem. The information will be used to take necessary action against the companies who created the problematic automobiles, and quality rules for electric vehicles will be released soon."
