Prevention of poaching groups at Urigam Wildlife Sanctuary
Following the tamil New Year vacations on april 14, three special anti-poaching teams were formed on behalf of the district Forest Department at Urigam Wildlife Sanctuary to combat poaching on the 15th, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Every year, the district forest department forms special anti-poaching teams to monitor wildlife poaching by people living near the forest in the Hosur forest reserve during the festival season. On the directives of district Forest Officer Karthikeyan, a special anti-poaching team was formed on the eve of the tamil New Year on april 14 to monitor the festival season, including vehicle inspections.
Urigam Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary in India. The Venkatachalam, Urigam Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Cauvery River, on the boundary of tamil Nadu and Karnataka. During the holidays, the inhabitants in this woodland have a tradition of going wildlife hunting. The tamil New Year is currently observed on Thursday, followed by Good Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
During these vacations, three special groups have been formed to prevent villagers and outsiders from hunting wildlife. Each group consists of eight persons. In the Urigam Wildlife Sanctuary, the squad is active in anti-hunting, outdoor surveillance, and vehicle inspection operations at seven reserves: Kestur, Pilikal, Mallahalli, Thakkatti, Urigam, Manjukondapalli, and Kestur Extension Reserve.
