In a case alleging misappropriation of a substandard pongal gift package, the chennai High court has directed that Ministers Chakrabarty and I. Periyasamy be served with notices. Jayakopi, a Tiruvallur resident, has filed a case in the chennai High court alleging several irregularities and corruption in the distribution of pongal gift packages containing 21 items to family cards at a cost of Rs 1,296 crore 88 lakh.

The e-tender has been utilised inappropriately. The pongal package issued by the government contained poor ingredients such as jaggery, sugarcane, lentils, and tamarind, as well as dead insects. The distribution of such poor goods has been a waste of people's money. My accusation was brought to the attention of tamil Nadu's Chief Minister. The chief minister has ordered action against the contractors that distributed inferior items, but authorities have yet to take any action.

As a result, there has been no action taken to file a complaint with the Lok Ayukta against the authorities who sold inferior food, as well as Food minister Chakrabarty and Cooperatives minister I. Periyasamy, for failing to stop them. As a result, proper action on my complaint should be taken. The petition demanded that officials and ministers who misused substandard goods be prosecuted. When the petition was first heard by Judge Anita Sumanth, the Lok Ayukta body, Ministers Chakrabarty and I.P. Periyasamy, were instructed to respond, and the hearing was postponed till june 10.
