Japan quake shakes 2 million; tsunami repeats after 11 years!

TOKYO - The Japanese capital, Tokyo, was shaken by a strong earthquake on Wednesday. The quake was felt around 8 pm local time. The quake had a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. Fukushima, off the coast of japan, has been hit. (Japan Earthquake tsunami alert issued)


A tsunami alert has been issued in japan following the quake. The epicenter was reported at 297 km east-northeast of Tokyo, according to the National Center for Seismology. There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage. But FP reports that 2 million homes in japan have lost power. The quake struck at a depth of 60 km under the sea. As a result, people in the area are being evicted for security reasons


Earthquake again

It is worth noting that this is part of northern Japan. The disaster occurred there on march 11, 2011. The quake measured 9 on the Richter scale. It was followed by a tsunami there. Now, 11 years later, a tsunami alert has been issued for the same Fukushima earthquake in March.

 It is noteworthy that it was the strongest earthquake recorded in Japan. The tsunami hit Fukushima and caused extensive damage, with waves up to 40.5 meters high. The northern Honshu region was the worst affected by the tsunami. Currently there is another earthquake in the same area.
