Previous female employees of sony have complained that the corporation unfairly targets against female employees. In October, Emma Majo, a veteran PlayStation IT security consultant, filed a harassment complaint against the corporation. She claims in her complaint that she was fired from her job after speaking out against gender discrimination at her employment. Nine other female employees have already joined the company's complaint.

Sony's defense argued that no other female workers had made similar comments when Majo lodged a complaint against them. Nevertheless, Sony's case has now been joined by eight more women. Many have already left the company, while others continue to work within.

"When I left sony, I informed the SVP and Manager of HR rachel Ghaadban in the Ranccho Bernarrdo headquarters that systematic sexism towards women was the reason I was leaving. 'I understand,' responded the director of Human Resources. She didn't want to know anything else." Harrington has spent nearly 17 years with Sony. Harrington went on to say that female employees at sony were rarely considered for promotions. The board rarely has female employees as prospects, also during annual appraisal meetings. She indicated that only four of the seventy people under investigation were female. The fact that women have families and children to look after usually came up anytime females were mentioned.
