Jaggery and sugar packs received at sabarimala had a 'Halal' mark


The Department which manages the god ayyappa temple Travancore Devaswom Board(TDB) at sabarimala had issued a statement to the kerala high court that jaggery received had a 'Halal' mark on its package. The Package has exported the jaggery to other Arab countries by the same company. The Department has informed the high court that jaggery they received from their assigned company will always be tested at the place Pamba and after the clearance from the food safety department only, it is taken to the godown for storage.

                       From the main storage place, the jaggery is transported to the sabarimala according to the requirement and also after the offerings. Even before it is distributed or sold, a series of testing will be made said TDB members Anil K Narendran and PG ajith Kumar. The Department submissions were made after a plea from a devotee named Kumar who was against the 'Halal' marking in the package of 'aravana' payasam made from jaggery and rice. The Halal-certified material cannot be considered as pure for offerings to Lord Ayyappa. This issue is given importance due to Mandalam-Maakaravilakku pilgrimage has commenced soon and more devotees are expected at that time.
