Forced S*xual Harassment of Female SP - Now, DGP appears before Court!
Yesterday, police officials appeared in court, including a former DGP accused of sexually harassing a female SP. The case's trial has been postponed until tomorrow. A female SP filed a complaint in april alleging sexual harassment by a special DGP of the tamil Nadu Police. The event sparked outrage across tamil Nadu. Following it, the police's Special DGP and Chengalpattu S.P. Both were fired, and the sexual harassment case was referred to the CID police.
Following that, the Villupuram CBCID police, the former DGP, and his collaborator, Chengalpattu former S.P., were arrested. They have been charged under four sections of the law, and investigations are proceeding. Former Special DGP and former Chengalpattu S.P. are investigating the case. On July 29, the CBCID police filed a 400-page chargesheet in Villupuram court against them. The former Special DGP, Chengalpattu, and the previous S.P. Both were given a copy of the chargesheet and were granted bail, but the matter has been waiting for the past three months.
A petition filed by a former special DGP seeking an injunction to prevent his case from being heard in the Villupuram court was dismissed by the chennai High court a few days ago, and the Villupuram court was instructed to complete the trial within three months. The former special DGP appeared before the Villupuram district Chief criminal Justice Arbitration court today after the court issued a warning. The former Special DGP's supporters claimed that the CBCID police did not adequately investigate the case at the time, and that the inquiry was biassed.
The former special DGP's party also sought that the case's materials, including as the forensic report and CCTV camera videos, be released to them. Arbitrator Gopinathan delayed the case till tomorrow, over the prosecution's strong opposition, and ordered the release of the documents requested by the former special DGP.
