According to recent reports circulating on social media, virat kohli would step aside as skipper of the indian cricket team just after t20 world cup, as well as current vice-captain rohit sharma will take Kohli's position as the shortest format's leader. Officials from the bcci have now released remarks on the subject. However, amid the rumours, virat kohli has made it official that he would be stepping down as India's captain.
'He has been fortunate enough to not only represent india but also lead the indian Cricket Team to my fullest potential,' he said in the message. He expressed gratitude to everyone who has helped him along the way as Captain of the indian Cricket Team.
He believed that he needed to give himself space in order to be completely prepared to lead the indian team in Test and ODI cricket, given my enormous workload over the previous 8-9 years playing all three formats and captaining consistently for the last 5-6 years. He went on to say that after much thought and debate with his close friends, ravi Bhai and Rohit, who has been an integral part of the leadership group, he has chosen to stand aside as t20 Captain following the t20 world cup in dubai in October. He has also discussed the matter with the secretary, Mr. Jay Shah, and the President of the bcci, Mr. Sourav Ganguly, as well as all of the selectors.
