Motorists have been traveling free of charge at 4 toll plazas on Old Mamallapuram Road in chennai since the cancellation of tolls came into effect today and we can see the commoners are happy with this GO passed by the ruling DMK Government. The government of tamil Nadu has announced that tolls will not be levied at the toll plazas at Perungudi, Durappakkam, Medavakkam and Kalaignar Road on the Old mahabalipuram Road in chennai for Metro rail works from today.

The order went into effect early this morning and subsequently, drivers of all types of vehicles, including cars and lorries, passed through these 4 toll plazas free of charge. Several people who were paying Rs.100 and 200 were now happier as they crossed the toll gate without paying any charges and this helped several commoners who have to struggle a lot to pay these toll booth charges.

The Common people were happy that the amount was left over as the rental car and rental auto drivers had to pay at least 60 rupees a day as they needed to cross the toll for sure. Motorists also demanded that the Nawalur toll plaza be closed and the toll fee should not be collected even there as it also comes under chennai radar.
