India's First 250 Kmph Bullet train Expected To Be Made In Bengaluru
The bullet train will have seven bogies with a standard 3+2 seating arrangement and one executive bogie with 2+2 seating.
Bengaluru is set to manufacture the country’s first bullet train. The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) invited tenders to manufacture two chair-car high-speed trains on september 5. The last date for submitting bids was Thursday, september 19. The stainless steel carbody trains will have a maximum speed of 280 kmph and an operating speed of 250 kmph. The train is likely to be manufactured at the BEML’s Bengaluru Plant. The tender is yet to be finalised by the ICF.
The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has invited tenders for the production of two high-speed chair-car trains, with BEML's Bengaluru plant likely handling the manufacturing. The trains will have a stainless steel body and a total seating capacity of around 174, with the possibility of future expansions.
The estimated cost for producing one train ranges between Rs 200-250 crore, and these trains are intended for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed rail corridor. After successful trials, there are plans for additional orders for other high-speed routes, including Delhi-Varanasi and Bengaluru-Chennai. The first train is expected to be operational by december 2026, following tests on the Surat-Bilimora section of the MAHSR line.
