Tata Motors introduced a sportier variant of its Altroz hatchback at the auto Expo this year, which has received major cosmetic upgrades both inside and out. However, no official date for its launch has been revealed yet. Sources estimate that Altroz Racer may hit the market in the first half of 2024. Tata has already started testing for this model, and recently its prototype model was spotted testing in Ooty. In which, despite the hand-written 'Racer' visible on its engine, an attempt was made to hide its design details.

The most important highlight of the Tata Altroz Racer is its 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of generating 120 bhp power and 170 Nm torque, which is 10 bhp power and 30 Nm torque more than the Altroz iTurbo. In terms of torque, this engine performs better than the hyundai i20 N Line. For transmission, it can be given a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Look and Design

The Tata Altroz Racer is the first Altroz model to feature an electrically adjustable sunroof with sound control. It sports a bold look with 'Racer' badging on the front fender, a blacked-out roof, and a bonnet decorated with twin white racing stripes. The full-width chrome bar at the front and a blacked-out treatment on the headlamps give it a luxurious look. Whereas the design of alloy wheels remains the same and the all-black finish gives them a special touch. It has a rear spoiler and a shark fin antenna at the rear, which completes its sporty look. After launch, this car will compete with the new hyundai i20 N Line, which has recently been launched with some major changes
