Ana de Armas' John Wick Spinoff Ballerina Starts Filming This Summer

SIBY JEYYA
Ballerina, Ana de Armas' john Wick spinoff, is expected to begin production this summer. With parts in Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out, and No Time to Die, the Cuban actress has steadily risen to popularity in recent years. And she doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon. Norma Jeane/Marilyn Monroe in Blonde and Dani Miranda in Joe and Anthony Russo's star-studded spy thriller The Gray Man for Netflix are among De Armas' future roles.

Ballerina, a john Wick spinoff picture directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) with a script by Shay Hatten, is another one of her exciting upcoming projects (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, army of the Dead). The plot will follow de Armas, a female assassin who is hell-bent on exacting vengeance on those who murdered her family. Angelica Huston's character, The Director, grooms young ballerinas to be assassins at the same facility where john Wick was taught, as shown in 2019's Parabellum, laying the groundwork for the spinoff.

The john Wick spinoff film has just received a significant update. Ballerina is expected to begin production this summer, though no specific date has been disclosed. It was first announced during Lionsgate's CinemaCon presentation and shared on the event's official twitter account. De Armas was the sole confirmed cast member at the time.
